How to use with Muse

Connect Muse to your Awaken account with the Awaken connector and sign in with OAuth.

Before you begin

Awaken API access requires a Dolphin or Whale plan.

Muse connects through OAuth: you sign in to Awaken from the connector flow and no API key is copied anywhere.

Connect the Awaken connector

Where the connection lives

The grant appears under Connected Apps in Awaken settings, where you can review or revoke it at any time. You can also manage the connector from Settings → Connectors in Muse.

1. Open Connectors

In Muse, open Settings → Connectors, or ask Muse to connect Awaken.

2. Choose Awaken

Find Awaken in the connector list, tap Connect, and choose Continue to authorize the connection.

3. Sign in to Awaken

Muse opens Awaken's authorization page. Sign in with the account that has access to the workspace you want to connect.

4. Choose a client and scope

The consent page shows Muse as the requesting app. Pick the Awaken client Muse may access and allow read only or read + write, then approve. Muse receives a token scoped to that client and refreshes it automatically.

Verify the connection

Start a new Muse conversation and ask it to use Awaken. If it can list your accounts or transactions, the connection is working.

Review

Show my largest taxable events this year and flag anything missing cost basis.

Clean up

Find my unreviewed transactions, explain the likely labels, and ask before changing anything.

Reports

Generate my Form 8949 report for 2025 and tell me when it is ready.

How the OAuth path works

Awaken runs a registered public OAuth client for the Muse connector, so the consent page shows Muse as the requesting app and no API key is exchanged during connection.
